Broken Hill (NSW) based competitor Brendan Guerin is one driver who isn’t scared to hit the road to race, and he set to do it again over Christmas as one of the of the drivers committed to all five nights of the Clay-Per-View Sprintcar Speedweek. Although the opening night of Speedweek at Murray Bridge is technically at his home track, as his car is registered in SA, the team will still travel over six hours to race prior to heading even further south to complete the series.
“It’s a very busy week but it’s a great time to get away and race against the best in the country. I’m not sure how many more I’ll be doing so I’m looking forward to it” commented Bredan when asked about the challenge of racing Speedweek.
When asked about the travelling involved to race Sprintcars but he had a pretty simplistic answer about what it takes to get to the racetrack. “It’s a long way from anywhere and the huge travel times are just part of what we do to compete in the summer months. It sounds silly but the more travelling you do the easier it gets”.
With the South Australian Sprintcar scene getting off to a slow start Brendan has only made 1 start at Murray Bridge this season with his other two appearances coming in Victoria piloting his 360ci. In his three races this year his best result is fourth at Horsham so unfortunately, he will enter Speedweek with limited seat time.
But looking back 12 months ago Guerin was able to make the Speedweek A-mains at both Murray Bridge and Borderline with a best result of 13th at the Speedweek opener.
